Go Behind The Scenes of Lil Yachty & Young Thug's 'On Me' Video | EXCLUSIVE

If you've seen Lil Yachty and Young Thug's "On Me" music video, then you've probably felt the effects of some serious FOMO, as it was a very LIT hotel party -- as in the entire hotel, with the guys making their way from room to room. Now, iHeartRadio is exclusively showing fans how this visual came to life in a special behind-the-scenes video.

The video's director Liam MacRae, Production Designer Violet Overn, producer Lizzie Shapiro, as well as Lil Yachty explain everything that you see in the "On Me" music video, including the different themed rooms, the concept, and more.

Lil Yachty and Young Thug's "On Me" music video was shot in New York City at The Ace Hotel, and follows the rappers throughout the hotel as they make their way from room to room -- and these aren't your average rooms. The themed rooms range from an animal room, to a frat party college room, to a western room, to a provocative room (room no. 69), and more. Director Liam explained of the idea behind the video:

"The concept is just being aware that there's a music video going on at the Ace Hotel. So, Young Thug and Lil Yachty are very aware of the camera, all the rooms have different themes, they're interacting with different people, and all of the rooms are very unrealistic. It was really interesting, because while we'd be filming one room, Violet and her whole art team would be setting up another room. And it would be like trying to line up all these rooms, and getting Thug and Yachty to go room to room to room, and perform, and bring all of our camera equipment. So it was such a good thing that we had multiple cameras."

Liam also explained how they made the gravity-defying tilted room happen. No, you aren't seeing things and it's not magical wizardry ... it's an optical illusion. Liam says, "One of the rooms is really interesting because everything's on the wall, and then they're performing on the floor. So the whole room is tilted on its side."

As fans will notice, this video was not filmed in typical formatting. Instead, they went old school and shot on actual film -- 60mm and 35 mm to be exact, according to the video's producer Lizzie. She explains that it's "a really different process from shooting digitally, and makes you have to be more specific about what you're shooting because you can't roll on everything like you could on memory card."

Liam adds that the decision to film the music video this way was to make it stand out from other music videos, which are currently mostly shot digitally. He says "Everything looks the same right now, and that's a huge part of why I chose to shoot film format, and why we chose a fish eye lens. I just feel like I'm helping them [Lil Yachty & Young Thug] create pillars in their career. This is a video that's going to matter."

He adds, "I think sound stages are like classic film, and this is kind of like the new DIY way."
