INTERVIEW: Famous Dex Talks 'Japan' & Tries To Make Us Sushi

Famous Dex stopped by iHeartRadio headquarters to chop it up -- literally. While promoting his new single "Japan," the rapper also tried his hand at making some sushi.

The task? Dex was challenged to make a vegetarian Philadelphia roll. iHeartRadio thought of the bright idea because of his new song. When we asked Dex what made him want to record "Japan," he replied, "It was a beat... the melody of the beat, it was just so the vibe of the beat... and the flute." The recording artist continued: "I was in studio by myself and I've been single for nine months. So, I was on Instagram. And I was like, 'Baby girl, what you doin', where your mans? How the Xan feeling?'... It was just cool and I just loved it."

On the track, Dex raps: "Baby girl, what you doing, where your mans? (where your)/ I just popped a Xan, fifty thousand in Japan (50,000 in Japan)." He continues: "I ain't doin' no playin', these red bottoms, not no Vans/ And she tellin' all her friends, I might put 'em on the Gram, aye (yeah, Dexter)."

If you watch the single's music video, you can see that it's inspired by video games. "Aww, it was so fun," Dex said about shooting the visual. "I had so much fun because every time  I do green screen, [it] is always fun. Working with awesome people that have the same good energy, that's always cool, and it'd be dope. So I loved it, it was cool. It was real fun."

Though "Japan" is climbing the charts and the song has put Dex on a whole other level in his career, he's still planning on visiting the country one day. The rapper admitted that he wants to go there and shop with his kids. He added that he'd also like to "meet good people. I'm a people's person. I like to meet other people. I just love the vibe of other people."

All of this "Japan" talk leads us right back to Dex's interesting sushi session with iHeartRadio. Watch the rapper show off his international cooking skills above. You can also peep the music video below. Plus, if you'd like, buy the single here!
