Sean "Diddy" Combs' associates are reportedly working on securing a pardon from President Donald Trump amid the rapper's ongoing sex trafficking trial.

Diddy is currently facing trial in the Southern District of New York on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. The rapper pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him. If convicted, Diddy faces 15 years to life in prison.

According to Rolling Stone, Diddy's team is trying to curry favor with the Trump administration to secure a pardon for the mogul.

Diddy's allies are reportedly appealing to Trump insiders by drawing parallels to the allegations he and the president have faced, saying federal investigators in New York are unfairly targeting rich business moguls. Trump was accused of assaulting author E Jean Carroll decades ago in New York and having an affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels.

The rapper's team is also reportedly reminding Trump associates of the pair's friendly history. Trump allegedly attended several of Diddy's VIP parties over the years and has previously expressed that he's a "good friend."

Diddy also previously referred to Trump as a friend, saying in 2015 after he announced his White House bid that the now-president was " a friend of mine, and he works very hard."

It's unclear if Diddy's attempts to curry favor with Trump for a pardon will work. However, Diddy is "willing to do anything to get out of jail," a source close to his associates told Rolling Stone.

"He's always been this way. He's always going to do what he has to do to get out of a situation," the source reportedly said. "He doesn't even like Donald Trump."
